Kicking My Fat Ass

Does sucking at XC skiing count as BHM points? It kicks my ass because I fall all the time. So are points being earned because I keep trying to ride these f'en boards or should I just give it up and ride my bike on the snowmobile trails again?

Can You Feel It?

It's 730...what should I be doing? Sleeping! But I'm outside, running...in below -5 temperatures. Hard man points are being earned at an exponential rate. When the snow is so hard that my knees beg for concrete...then it's cold enough to blog. See you tomorrow morning at Myrick Park...probably an hour, if you can last that long.

Afterwards...come over for a lifting session. I've moved my weights outside, if hands freeze to the bar its just warm enough. Iced coffee and ice cream for all as recovery calories...

Too Warm out

I was going to go for a ride today, but then I checked out weather.com to find out it was going to get up to 20 something. Riding in the 20's is disrespectful to the hardman competition. Anyone can ride when its warm out. I am waiting until single digits or crappy weather.

Wuss

I admit it. I could have rode yesterday later afternoon but didn't because it was "too windy" I also could have gone XC skiing in the dark but bailed on that also when Ace bailed on me because of the same reason I didn't ride. So what does that make me... A Wuss who's pee pee hurts. Now today it is about 15 freaken' degrees. I should have gone out when it was warmer yesterday.

So I guess acknowledging failure is the first step in recovery but is complaining part of BHM? I don't think so. WussMe.

Tipping Point

Fall hits and 50º temps make you think twice about riding. You've paid your dues all spring and summer. Being "chilly" is just not acceptable. And watching TV or surfing bike sites while munching on Pringles is much more appealing. Then it gets to the point where 30º temps are normal. No way. Too cold. Dust off the rollers, trainers and watch reruns. You quickly find out that your basement is not that cool of a hangout.

Bam! 10 inches of snow, sub 30º temps. You have cabin fever about now and you're desperate. The snow-covered roads and trails call you out. Getting dressed and the first 5 minutes is the worst part. After that it's like old times. Legs burning, cool (freezing) breeze in your face.

So that's where I'm at. Outside the last 3 days (even one night - it's just like The Shining).

And I ran...

It sucked. I tried to ride the bike trail at sunset the other night and it was just freaken' stupid. Snow covered by ice covered by snow.

Usually snowmobiles have packed it down by now but not my luck. There was no one on it in long sections. Even if someone had been on it I had about a one foot width to ride with footprints. I ran half of it just to get to the road. 2.5 miles took me 35 minutes while pushing my bike.

Iceman!

This guy thinks he is tough. He is going to have some ground to make up by spring. That's right. I'm throwing the hammer at the Monkey and making it scream.... I think those icicles are fake!
